About the Camp Kearns Historic Walk
The Camp Kearns Historic Walk is a collaborative project between the Kearns Historical Society, Kearns Community Council, City of Kearns, State Historic Preservation Office, Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation, Salt Lake Community College, and the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District.

The idea for the Historic Walk began in 2021 as a class project at Salt Lake Community College, led by SHPO Officer Christopher Merritt. Its roots, however, go back over two decades, when Kearns Historian Pam Todd began researching and documenting Camp Kearns through the Kearns Historical Society.

The Camp Kearns Historic Walk is funded by the Salt Lake County Tourism, Recreation, Culture, and Convention Support Program grant. The project brings this history to life through ten interpretive panels at the Kearns Veterans Memorial Plaza, telling the story of Camp Kearns’ role in World War II and its transformation into the community we know today.
